Tomo's self-portraits...

Tomo Yanagishita

I first saw Tomo in Dream Live 5th where he played the role of Kaidoh Kaoru, the shy type but scary guy with the green bandana. My friend said that Kaidoh isn’t supposed to be cute. He’s just supposed to act cute. And I definitely agree. But even though Tomo is not fit to be Kaidoh Kaoru, I still think he’s the coolest Kaidoh ever… Sorry for being biased.

I watched Dream Live 4th, where Tomo also played Kaidoh, next …

Yeah, I know, I’m in the wrong order. But you see, I’m not really a fan of TeniMyu. I watched it because my friend is addicted to it and I think it wasn’t bad at all. I’m still not a fan of TeniMyu until now. I just happen to like some of the cast like Hirata Yuichirou, Masataka Nakagauchi, Baba Toru and of course, Tomo. I also like the casting of Rikkaidai Fuzoku.

Dream Live 5th was Tomo’s last performance as Kaidoh Kaoru. He is the only 3rd cast in the Seigaku’s side while the others were all 4th cast which means he is the senpai. He sang “Ore wa Mamushi” (I am a viper), Kaidoh’s theme song, while dancing some snake moves. Yeah, he certainly has a special number. And while singing “The Regulars” with the other Seigaku cast, he wasn’t able to perform well because he was already crying…aww…I guess that’s when I decided to become a fan of Tomo.

Anyway, I decided to read his blog translation next. I found this site in live journal that translates blog of some Japanese actors including Tomo.

I noticed he has such a sweet personality. He is the only Japanese I know who introduces his whole family in his blog bit by bit. He’s a shopaholic and he collects necklaces. (He even has a collection of rosaries. I’m not sure if Japanese people couldn’t really tell the difference of a rosary to a necklace or if it was just Tomo) I don’t know if he got tired of his necklace collection but recently he decided to collect something else… piercing!
I also found out from an interview that Tomo made a girl cry when he was in grade school. There was this cute girl he likes… He didn’t mention the details of how he managed to make her cry but it turns out that the girl liked him too but that was before he made her cry. He found it all out from the girl’s friend.

Videos I watched where Tomo is a part of...

TeniMyu

Takumi-kun Series
( A BL movie)

Taiga Roman Trilogy
(He’s the main cast. Couldn’t understand it. I can’t find a subbed version.)

Akai Ito...
as Natsu, the soccer player who made a girl pregnant.

Kakushi Gei...
this is gymnastics. It’s amazing that Tomo can actually perform like that. Too bad he had a bad fall during one of the rehearsals. I’m glad it wasn’t that bad.

NEP League...
in his posts he mentioned that he's not smart but he asked the fans to watch the show. After watching it, I have to agree with him. He made a lot of mistakes and I think the funniest part is when he answered America on the geography question when the shaded region was Mexico. I was laughing so hard. How in the world did he mistake Mexico for America??! Besides America is huge, not to mention it’s a continent and not a country. Tomo was laughing at himself, too. And I guess he knew it was wrong but he still went on saying it. Still, it was a fun game. I couldn’t find the subbed video so I watched it in pure Japanese. I have to watch it so many times before I was able to understand some of it. I would be very happy if someone will be kind enough to make a sub for it.

Ren'ai Shindan~Tsubasa no Kakera...
another BL... and another nose-bleed. I couldn’t find a subbed version.

Detective Conan Movie 1...
I spent so much time looking for him in this movie. It turned out he was one of the classmates of Ran and Shinichi. I watched this movie before I met Tomo so I had to watch it again just to look for him. Haha!

Akai Ito

watch drama at mysoju

I watched Akai Ito because Tomo forced me to. Haha!
But seriously, I became interested in this drama because I like Tomo’s eagerness when he mentions Akai Ito in his blog posts. Everytime he says,

Everyone did you watch it~??
Man~, it's a really fun drama ne o(≧∀≦)o
Definitely watch it please!!!

I was like… “Sure, Tomo.”
So, there… I did watch it.
And…
I liked it!

I’m not being biased or something.
I definitely liked it not because Tomo is part of it (I didn’t see much of him anyway) but because it has an interesting story, not too predictable… not to mention it has lots of flash-backs and I was like, “So that’s what happened.”
When I feel like I already understood everything, suddenly there will be a twist and I’ll find myself catching up again. You’ll only know the full story once you reached the ending. For example, I hate A-kun’s mother all throughout the drama but at the last episode I found out that it wasn’t entirely her fault. She never influenced Mei’s father to take drugs. She just asked a favor and it ended in a tragedy. As for Mei’s mother, I don’t think knowing that her husband is a user is not really enough reason to commit suicide.
I think this drama is really worth watching… even if you’re not a fan of Tomo or any of the cast like me…

Tomo is playing the part of the soccer player Natsu who made a girl pregnant and was so scared to face the consequences. I think Tomo was really cute in the part when he and his love partner (the girl who’s got pregnant) were in a restaurant and the girl was having second thoughts as to whether she should tell Natsu that she’s pregnant or not. She noticed that Natsu was so nervous that he couldn’t even look at her in the eyes and so she decided not to tell Natsu the truth and she misled him by saying that the result of the test was negative. Then Tomo was like…”Yokatta”~”thank goodness”. Then she asked, “What if… I’m pregnant…” Then Tomo was like, “Masaka! We’re still in highschool…blah blah” and he went on saying things that definitely hurt the girl. Then he noticed her tears and she walked out on him. In the end, Tomo realized he did a wrong thing and so they decided to keep the baby. At the end of the drama, there are pictures of the two of them and a cute healthy baby girl. Tomo became a daddy! =)

By the way, if you’ve seen the Hana Kimi, Mizobata Junpei (A-kun) is part of it, he’s one of the guys in dorm 2.

This is a love story between two people whose fate is connected by “Akai Ito” or red thread.

According to a Chinese legend, two people’s destiny is connected by a red thread and even though they got separated they will always be connected somehow.

It was February 29, a day which only comes every four years, when a girl named Mei met a boy named Atsushi without them knowing that they’re destined to be together. It was Mei’s birthday and she and her mom went to a bakeshop to buy a cake. On her way out, she bumped on a boy riding a bicycle and the cake she was carrying was crushed. The cake shop gave her another one. Then she found out it was also the guy’s birthday that day. She took the chocolate on top of her birthday cake with the words, “Happy Birthday” then he gave it to the boy.

Years passed and they’re now in high school. They became classmates but neither of them knew that they’ve already met before. The girl has no idea that her classmate was the boy back then. The guy didn’t know either.

But one day when the A-kun (Atsushi) asked for the Mei’s birthday, he was surprised to find out that they both have the same birthdays. Then he asked her if she happen to meet a boy with the same birthday before and she said yes. They started dating ever since then.

On the night of their field trip, A-kun told Mei the story of his first love. That’s when Mei found out that A-kun was the boy she met when she was a kid and the girl, that he said was his first love, is actually her.

It turns out that their meeting in the cake shop wasn’t their very first. While Mei was cleaning her room, she found one of her baby pictures and in the picture she was holding hands with a baby boy. What she didn’t know is that the baby boy is actually A-kun.

Mei’s real mother (Mei was adopted by her mother’s friend after her mother died) and A-kun’s mother were once best friends, a friendship that ended in a tragedy. A-kun’s mother is now a drug addict who is currently staying in a rehabilitation center. She and Mei’s real mother were once best fiends but that was before Mei’s father was accused of taking drugs and it was suspected that A-kun’s mother was the one who sold him drugs. Mei’s mom couldn’t take it so she ended her own life. That’s when Mei’s mother’s friend adopted her.

And now, when Mei’s mother (not her real mother but Mei doesn’t know it yet) found out that A-kun and Mei are going out, she asked A-kun to stay away from Mei. But A-kun deserves some explanation so she told him the truth behind the death of Mei’s true mother. That is when A-kun decided to stay away from Mei. He broke up with Mei by telling her that he doesn’t have feelings for her anymore (which is obviously a lie). Then he left and transferred to some other school. His mother was also transferred to some other hospital.

Mei found some other guy named Taka-chan. Taka was one of Mei and A-kun’s friends and also their classmates. He suppressed his feelings for Mei because she knew Mei loves A-kun but when A-kun left he proposed to Mei. Mei tried to love Taka too but Taka knew it was pointless because Mei couldn’t forget A-kun.

On the day of the festival in their place, Taka set a date for Mei and A-kun to meet without the two knowing it. Then he got hit by car while trying to cross the street (I' not sure if it was suicide or not).

When Mei found out about A-kun's mother's conditon and her conection with her real mother, She went to the hospital where A-kun's mother satys and told her that because she is A-kuns mother and A-kun is the most special person to her then she could never hate her even though she could be the reason why Mei's mother died. Of course it's not really A-kun's mother's fault that Mei's mother died. When Mei and A-kun was still a baby, A-kun's mother asked Mei's father a favor. The police was after her because she is suspected to be a drug user so she asked Mei's father to hide the drugs. He got caught and when Mei's mother found out,she thought her husband is also a user so she ended her life. (I don't think this is enough reason to commmit suicide)

Anyway, Mei asked A-kun's mother to try to get better for the sake of her son.

When A-kun found out what Mei did, he came to look for Mei and he told her the truth...that she really loves her... and that he was so happy when Mei remembered their promise which is to meet on their 16th birthday in front of the bakeshop where they once meet when they were still kids.
